Travel: Glenda and NYC

Glenda’s Guide to NYC

TV Presenter, Glenda Gilson travels to some of the best cities in the world but when we asked which city was her favourite she immediately said New York! A city so vibrant, busy and boasting the worlds best sky scrappers, it's no wonder why NYC was Glenda's top pick!

Glenda has attended the most exclusive Fashion and Showbiz events in the city over the years, most recent include the launch of Alexander Wang for H&M and New York Fashion week last month. In 2013, Glenda got engaged in the stunning surroundings of Central Park so it's no surprise this city holds a very special place in her heart!

Here's Glenda's best of the fabulous NYC....

Fitzpatricks Hotel on Lexington Avenue.

Best Restaurant?

Balthazar, Spring Street. Great for celeb spotting and a great buzz!

Best Bakery?

Two Little Red Hens, 2nd Avenue

Best Cocktail?

A Bellini at Cipriani Downtown located at West Avenue between Spring and Broome Street.

Best View?

Empire State Building - 102 Story skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan. It’s one of the best feelings in the world to look out from the top!

Henry Bendall, 5th Avenue. It’s more of a department store but I love everything in it!

Best Breakfast?

Brunch at the Plaza. You’ll never experience anything like it! Enjoy the incredible food and the Plaza magnificence!

The Statue of Liberty. The statue is an icon of freedom and a welcoming sign to immigrants arriving from abroad. Not for the faint hearted if one decides to take her on, there’s over 300 steps up a  spiral staircase to the top!

Best time to visit?

The end of November/ Start of December. It’s magical that time of year. It’s crisp with a hint of snow in the air. The buzz is electric and the sales are on so Christmas shopping is a must!

Best for Vintage?

What goes around comes around, West Broadway. Loved by editors, stylists and models alike.

Best Club?

Up and Down Nightclub, 244W  14th Street.

Best Burger?

PJ Clarke’s, one of the oldest and legendary bars in NYC. It also has a jukebox full of oldies but goodies

Best rooftop?

The Standard, high line hotel has a sensational  rooftop bar. 18 story tower in the heart of downtown Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

Best Shopping District?

Soho for quirky stops. It has everything you want and jammed packed with coffee shops and nail bars.
